Configure the controller manager

The LeaderWorkerSet (LWS) controller manager reads its component configuration from the file passed to the --config flag. New configuration files should use the stable config.lws.x-k8s.io/v1 API.

Configuration example

The following configuration enables leader election and internal certificate management. Fields that are not specified use their default values.

When installing from source or with Kustomize, edit config/manager/controller_manager_config.yaml before building or applying the manifests. The generated controller Deployment mounts this configuration and passes its path with --config.

Before you begin

Make sure the following conditions are set:

A Kubernetes cluster is running.
The kubectl command-line tool has communication with your cluster.
Cert Manager is installed

LWS supports either Kustomize or installation via a Helm chart.

Internal Certificate management

In all cases, LWS’s internal certificate management must be turned off if one wants to use CertManager.

Before you begin

A Kubernetes cluster is running.
The kubectl command-line tool has communication with your cluster.
Prometheus is installed
Cert Manager can be optionally installed

LWS supports either Kustomize or installation via a Helm chart.

Kustomize Installation

Enable prometheus in config/default/kustomization.yaml and uncomment all sections with ‘PROMETHEUS’.
